Introducing BOTH JOINT & MARROW

This weblog is intended to be a site where discussion happens.  You are invited to join an on-going conversation with a diverse group of people who have been talking with one another for some time already.  We call ourselves MARROW.

  1. Fat wet flakes are falling whitening tree and lawn and car alike. Snow is no respector of persons- or objects big and small. It covers a multitude of bins, garbage and all, transforming mundane real estate into wondrous landscapes to the delight of children, dogs and poets like me. From the icy hand of Winter comes the warm imagery of imagination tumbling out like kids on sleds. It is the stuff of dreams come true before your very eyelids - blink and feel it! - and right on the tip of your tongue - taste it!. Frost does look like suspiciously like God's fractal finger decorating your window pane. It comes as no surprise that with the snow, in these climes and times, comes Christmas once again. Confetti for His birthday. WHEEEEEEEE!

  2. Skeptics are God's way of making believers think about Him more. Why would anybody work that hard? I mean both skeptics and believers. As hard as it is for believers sometimes, it is impossible for skeptics because they have to keep telling themselves "there is no god there is no god" in the face of overwhelming evidence, not least of which is the Holy Spirit blowing like a constant Wind against their face. No wonder Dawkins warned budding biologists "remember, it just LOOKS designed". Just keep repeating the mantra until your mind is numb and your heart is cold and you can't really reason anymore...or even feel the Wind. You are reduced to Ad Hominem attacks, which is really "Ad Dei" (against God), taken out on the nearest believer (see how they've done it to Christ) - God help the Christian unprepared for this assault lest Satan sow a seed of doubt in the believers mind to sprout, like a toxic weed, later, during some drought or dread. What makes them keep at it, these atheists? Right now - money. And the spotlight. And some deep-seated bitterness - a personal vendetta against God for some insult, imagined or real (by church people, church official or Church, usually). Fools. That is what the Bible calls people who say in their heart "there is no God". "In their heart". Hmmm? Are believers capable of such foolishness - the ones with all the theological arguments down pat but, all the while, their HEART is saying "there is no God". Perhaps what drives them is an intellectual pursuit to convince themselves of God -like atheists who keep trying to convince themselves of God's nonexistence; hard to do with a Being who really does not exist at all - He subsists (gotcha!)- rather than humbly bow before Him. I pity that kind of fool most of all. Much the better is the case of the believing heart and curious (questioning? doubting? struggling? whatever..) mind... the one who says, in his heart, "YES, JESUS LOVES ME". And that is enough. Quite enough, for them to love Him back...in their heart. "Lord, I believe. Help Thou, mine unbelief." Amen.
